The Space Technology Incubation Centre (S-TIC) at NIT Agartala was established on September 18, 2018, on the ground floor of the CSE building (Room No. G-14), covering an area of 1600 sq. ft. The inauguration was held remotely through online mode from the Hotel Leela Palace of Bengaluru by the joint connotation of Prof. Harish Kumar Sharma, the then Director of NIT Agartala and Dr K. Sivan, the then Secretary of the Department of Space and Chairman of ISRO. This event had been glorified by the gracious presence of Sri Biplab Kumar Deb the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Govt. of Tripura. This is the first-ever Incubation Centre of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) throughout the India.

The ISRO is desirous of setting up this Centre to attract and nurture the young academia with innovative ideas / research aptitude for carrying out research and developing the Academia-Industry ecosystem.  

A total of 10 Technology Development Projects (TDPs) were approved and sanctioned under this Centre, among few are ready for a new start with active participation from various Institutes of North-Eastern region.Various papers have been presented and published/communicated in various International Journals and Conferences under these Technology Development Projects. I am delighted to inform you that out of 10 (ten) approved & sanctioned incubation projects under this Centre, 06 (six) are successfully completed.

As an outcome of these completed projects, one Technology Transfer has been done by“Product Handover” to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Space, Government of India on April 27th, 2023.

This product has also been invited and showcased in the “National Technology Week event” happened from 11th to 14th May 2023 at Pragati Maidan of New Delhi. This event has been inaugurated and circumambulated by the honorable Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Damodardas Modi.
